Hi, I'm Octavio.
I’m an Engineering Leader and Software Architect based in Uruguay, working globally. My passion for technology began in primary school and has evolved into a 12+ year career dedicated to building great software and empowering the people who create it.
Leadership Philosophy
I believe the hardest part of software engineering isn’t the code—it’s human alignment, communication, and clear execution. Throughout my career, whether managing a 30-developer frontend department or leading 100% remote cross-functional squads, I prioritize psychological safety, active feedback, and personal career growth. When engineers feel supported and understand the business why behind their work, high performance follows naturally.
I have a track record of guiding colleagues in their careers and building a knowledge-sharing culture that develops new leaders across the organization. My leadership role has grown to managing engineers across several teams. I’m also a presenter at conferences, meetups and internal events.
I’ve also served as an Adjunct Professor at ORT University, teaching software architecture, API design, and client-server systems.

I pair my technical core with product frameworks like Lean Startup, UX design, and Strategyzer models to ensure every technical decision serves a business purpose.
Architecture & AI
My background spans end-to-end web architecture (Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, distributed backend systems) alongside continuous exploration of emerging technologies. Recently, I’ve been focusing on pragmatic AI engineering—integrating the Claude API, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and agentic tools to build smarter, more efficient software.

Community involvement
My commitment to team dynamics extends to sports governance. Serving as a Board Member for a local basketball club (Club Deportivo Albatros), I spearheaded the digital transformation of youth category management (building a Next.js PWA & Headless CMS) while driving commercial sponsorship strategy and business model alignment.
Beyond the Screen
Life is about balance. I’m a passionate sports fan and player (basketball and football since childhood), which continuously reinforces my understanding of teamwork, strategy, and resilience. Over the past decade, I’ve also led youth groups, summer camps, and community initiatives—experiences that deeply shaped my facilitation skills, empathy, and leadership style. Oh, and I rarely write code without a good Mate nearby!
